Hungary Backs Morocco's Autonomy Plan To Resolve Sahara Issue

RABAT, Nov 28 (Bernama-MAP) -- Hungary has expressed its support for Morocco’s efforts to resolve the Sahara issue, describing the Autonomy Plan as “the most credible basis” to resolve the dispute, Morocco news agency (MAP) reported.

According to MAP, this position was expressed by Hungary in a Joint Statement signed following a meeting between Minister of Moroccan Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates,  Nasser Bourita, and his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, in Rabat on Wednesday.

Both ministers “reaffirmed their support to the UN-led political process and to the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to find a solution to the Sahara issue, in line with the Security Council resolutions.”

The statement emphasised the positive and constructive roles both Morocco and Hungary play in maintaining stability, security, and peace in their respective regions. The two countries reiterated their commitment to peaceful resolution of conflicts and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
