TUMPAT, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) has donated five mobile kitchens to five temporary relief centres (PPS) to facilitate the preparation of food for flood victims.
Kelantan MRC chairman Dr Seri Buana Zainuddin said that since the floods hit, they have handed over five mobile kitchens to four other PPS including in Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Bachok and Pasir Puteh.
He said the latest was the handover to the PPS of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kubang Batang, here, which houses 532 victims.
“These mobile kitchens are handed over to the relief centres that have more than 200 victims so that food can be prepared quickly and in a short time.
“Each mobile kitchen can cook rice for 300 victims in just 45 minutes, besides the rice is cooked without crusting and does not cause waste,” he told reporters after handing over the kitchen at the SK Kubang Batang PPS here, today.
Also present were the national chairman of MRC Disaster Management, Datuk Dr Mohamed Alwi Abdul Rahman and Wakaf Bharu assemblyman Mohd Rusli Abdullah.
In a similar development, Dr Seri Buana said his party would be requesting more mobile kitchen assistance because they did not expected the floods this time would be worse than last year.
"We will be requesting more allocations from the Kelantan state government to supply mobile kitchens, each set worth RM3,500.
"In addition, the Kelantan MRC, which currently has more than 200 volunteers, will always collaborate with all agencies including the fire brigade, police, armed forces and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force to assist flood victims," he said.
