KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry is actively promoting sustainable energy, including renewable energy, among students through interactive learning and educational field trips.
Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said for this purpose, the ministry has partnered with the Ministry of Education to create a platform aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of renewable energy.
“At the same time, we encourage the inclusion of sustainable energy education, whether through teaching and learning in subjects such as science, mathematics, engineering, and technology (STEM),” he told Bernama.
He said this after officiating the Sustainable Energy Development Authority’s (SEDA) Young Energy Explorer (YEEPE) Programme at Petrosains, the Discovery Centre, Suria KLCC, here today.
Akmal explained that the YEEPE programme, introduced in 2023, featured four primary activities focusing on sustainable energy.
“The four activities are the YEEPE Roadshow, Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2023, Sustainable Visit Experience, and the Renewable Energy Video Competition, along with the SEDA YEEPE Studio. This studio has been operating since March and has seen close to 50,000 visitors so far,” he said.
The SEDA YEEPE Studio, in collaboration with Petrosains, is an interactive studio focused on sustainable energy. It provides exposure to SEDA Malaysia and its sustainable energy programmes through fun activities and games.
Through engaging exhibitions and activities at the studio, visitors, particularly youth, have the opportunity to enhance their creativity and understanding of the importance, impact, and challenges in developing a sustainable national energy sector.
