IPOH, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- Perak has held 1,296 Rahmah Sale programmes since early last year until Nov 18 this year, making it among the states that have frequently hosted the sales event, the State Legislative Assembly was told.
State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs, and Chinese New Villages Committee chairman Woo Kah Leong said that various parties, including retailers, hypermarkets, regular supermarkets, mini markets, and grocery stores, are involved in the programme.
"However, I would like to clarify that the items sold during the Rahmah Sale are 10 to 30 per cent lower than the market price.
"Traders who wish to collaborate with KPDN (Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry) must share the discount offered equally, with 15 per cent borne by the federal government and another 15 per cent by the traders," he said when winding up the debate on the 2025 Supply Enactment Bill and the 2025 Development Fund motion during the Perak State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Meanwhile, Woo, also Pasir Bedamar assemblyman, rebuked opposition claims that the Rahmah Sale events are only frequently held in government-held constituencies, assuring that the MADANI government has never neglected opposition areas.
Elaborating, he said the Taiping parliamentary constituency has three state seats won by the Unity Government, but each constituency has only had eight Rahmah Sales events.
"In the Larut parliamentary constituency, which also has three state assembly seats won by the opposition bloc, the Selama seat has hosted nine Rahmah Sale events, Kubu Gajah eight, and Batu Kurau eleven, a total of 28 times—four more than the Taiping parliamentary constituency," he added.
