KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The Social Security Organisation (Socso) and the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the exchange of information regarding the statutory obligations of aviation service providers.
Socso chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said the collaboration aims to ensure that employers and employees in the aviation industry are registered and contributing under the Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) and the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800).
“With this collaboration, we can assist the aviation industry by organising specific job fairs or career programmes. By collaborating with MAVCOM and the aviation industry, we look forward to assisting job seekers in these sectors to secure employment.
"During the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation industry was severely affected, with disruptions ranging from ground staff to technical crews,” he said in a press conference after signing the MoU with MAVCOM chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim at Wisma Perkeso today.
Saripuddin said the partnership between MAVCOM and Socso is an important first step towards strengthening compliance in the aviation industry and protecting the welfare of the workforce.
“We encourage employees in the aviation sector who are licensed with us to report any misconduct securely through our Whistleblower Form available on our website, www.mavcom.my.
"This platform is designed to be safe and confidential for reporting any wrongdoings, non-compliance, or improper conduct within Malaysia's aviation industry. As an economic and commercial regulator in the aviation sector, we will take strict action against any form of non-compliance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Azman said Socso is set to launch the National Career Exploration Centre (NPCEC) next year.
The NPCEC, according to him, will consist of three main components, namely a physical centre providing direct support services, the innovative NPCEC Metaverse platform for digital career exploration and the Metaverse Career Carnival facilitating virtual networking between job seekers and employers.
“The NPCEC will serve as a hub for employment assistance, offering valuable labour market insights and transitional guidance for students and graduates entering the aviation sector, " he said.
