TANGKAK, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- The LED Fantasy Light Carnival held at the Bukit Gambir Multipurpose Hall has been ordered to cease immediately and has been fully shut down.

The Tangkak District Council (MDT), through a post on its Facebook page, announced that an investigation found the organisers had failed to comply with the conditions for holding the carnival, particularly in terms of its sensitivity to the local community.

"Last Wednesday, MDT received a complaint about the organisers setting up a space shuttle-shaped structure featuring a sticker of the Chinese national flag at the carnival, which caused unease among the local community.

"The structure was dismantled, and a notice to immediately halt operations was issued to the organisers yesterday, in accordance with Section 14(1)(b) and 49(2) of the Trade, Business and Industry Licensing By-Laws (Tangkak District Council) 2017," MDT said today.

The statement also mentioned that MDT encourages business activities but will take firm action against traders who fail to adhere to regulations, particularly those concerning the local community.

Yesterday, Tangkak police chief Supt Roslan Mohd Talib was reported as saying that police had received a report about public dissatisfaction regarding the image of a rocket replica featuring the Chinese national flag at the festival.

As a result, he said that an investigation has been launched under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
