MELAKA, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- The success of attracting 15 million visitors and generating RM12.68 billion in revenue during the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024) must be sustained this year, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said maintaining this momentum is crucial, especially as Melaka has been chosen to host several international events.

"Various programmes will continue to be planned to promote Melaka as a preferred tourism destination, particularly leading up to World Tourism Day (WTD) and the World Tourism Conference in 2025, followed by Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

"I believe the momentum from 2024 must be sustained and further enhanced to accommodate larger events in 2025 and subsequently in 2026," he told reporters during the New Year’s Eve celebration and the launch of World Tourism Day 2025 (WTD2025) at Persiaran Jalan Merdeka Banda Hilir here last night.

He added that more than 202 tourism-related events were successfully organised at national and international levels throughout 2024, covering cultural, artistic heritage, sports, and religious aspects.
