KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Bernama) – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his congratulations to bowler Natasha Roslan for becoming the first Malaysian female athlete to win the 2025 World International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup yesterday.

In a Facebook post today, Ahmad Zahid expressed his hope that Natasha would continue her success and achieve even greater accomplishments in the future.

“Congratulations to Natasha Roslan on winning the 2025 IBF World Cup in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Keep up the great work and continue to bring more success to our country. You’ve made us proud,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid also congratulated Muhammad Rafiq Ismail, who secured the silver medal in the men’s singles event.

“I wish the best for our national bowling team in achieving even greater success, InsyaAllah,” he added.

Natasha, 28, who also won a gold medal at the 2023 World Tenpin Bowling Championship, triumphed in the final after defeating Germany’s Birgit Noreiks with scores of 217-166 and 226-169.

This victory ended a 53-year drought for Malaysia in the women’s individual category at the championship, since it was introduced in 1972.

Meanwhile, in the men’s individual final, former 2018 world champion Muhammad Rafiq lost the title to China’s Du Jian Chao.
