LABUAN, Jan 13 (Bernama) – Labuan is set to launch its Tourism Blueprint 2025-2030 in its bid to enhance its tourism sector over the next five years.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the blueprint was being drafted by the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Borneo Tourism Research Centre and is projected for completion by April 2025.
“This blueprint will serve as a strategic guide, outlining various initiatives to be undertaken to boost Labuan’s tourism sector from 2025 through 2030,” she said to Bernama at the conclusion of her two-day working visit to Labuan.
Dr Zaliha said the initiative would be a collaborative effort led by the Department of Federal Territories and Labuan Corporation (LC), involving key stakeholders such as the Tourism and Culture Ministry, LC’s Tourism Department, and various industry players.
She said during a meeting held at Wisma Perbadanan Labuan on Monday with officials from all parties, and discussions focused on vital infrastructure and service improvements to support the island’s tourism objectives.
“The future direction of Labuan’s tourism sector was the central topic of our discussions,” she said, as she acknowledged that many outstanding challenges still need to be addressed to benefit both the local population and the island's economy.
