KUALA LANGAT, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government will hold the 2025 Chinese New Year state-level celebration on Feb 8 at the Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple grounds in Jenjarom here.

State Investment, Trade and Mobility Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, are scheduled to grace the event, which is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors.

He said the celebration, to be held in collaboration with Invest Selangor Bhd, is also in conjunction with the Lantern Festival and Floral Exhibition, which will run from Jan 25 to Feb 12, covering an area of 38 acres.

“This Chinese New Year celebration reflects the spirit of goodwill, diversity and togetherness among the people of Selangor, showcasing openness and inclusivity in celebrating Malaysia’s festivals.

“One of the main attractions will be a 22-metre ‘giant lantern’ inspired by the Legend of the White Snake, as well as a 28-foot ‘Selangor lantern’ following the theme of the Year of the Snake,” he said at a press conference on the 2025 Chinese New Year celebration in Selangor, here today.

Ng said other attractions include the Lumbini Garden, surrounded by stunning orchid displays and koi ponds, with the entire area adorned with red lanterns, LED lights and colourful 3D structures.

A total of 3,000 free parking spaces will be provided on the temple grounds for the public to attend the celebration.

The celebration will be held in two sessions, with the first starting at 5.30 pm and the second at 8.30 pm, he said.
