KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- The Pahang state government remains committed in implementing the Tunas Makmur Programme under the Pahang Makmur Initiative (IM Pahang) with an allocation of RM9 million this year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said this year, it is estimated that around 250,000 recipients comprising school students, institutions of higher learning (IPT), teachers and lecturers will benefit from the initiative.
"We will continue with improvements and this year we have allocated RM9 million, the most important thing is that everyone can receive it," he said after officiating the Lipis Makmur Carnival in Lipis, Pahang, recently.
He said the initiative would continue with the provision of assistance to all Year 1 students throughout Pahang as well as Year 2 to Form 5 students in the poor and hardcore poor categories in the state.
"For Year 1 children in the 2025 session, parents do not need to buy school supplies. Stationery, pencil cases, coloured pencils, dictionaries, school bags, is given free by the state government. This is to ensure that our children are complete, comfortable and enthusiastic to start the school session.
"Of course, the IM Pahang Tunas Makmur assistance programme is to ensure that children go to school in complete condition to learn," he said.
In addition, Wan Rosdy said as before, each recipient will receive a 30 per cent discount card that can be used at all MBS World store chains throughout Pahang.
