KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) — After 44 years in the entertainment industry, legendary Malaysian rock icon Datuk Amy Search is set to take the stage for his first-ever solo concert, ‘Amy Search Magic,’ at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, on April 26.
Amy, whose real name is Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, 67, described the concert as a major milestone in his illustrious music career, spanning over four decades.
He expressed his readiness to showcase a new dimension of his career, having previously declined multiple offers for solo concerts.
“There’s no denying that many have approached me to do a solo concert, but I always gave the excuse that I wasn’t ready. Besides, there were other challenges, including my commitment to Search (his band), and I didn’t want to disrupt the group’s schedule.
“Last year, I received this offer from concert director Jennifer Thompson, and I immediately accepted it because I wanted a team of highly experienced creative professionals, not just anyone," he told a press conference on the concert yesterday.

He said the songs featured in the concert will capture the highs and lows of his more than four decades in the Malaysian music industry.
When asked why it took him so long to hold a solo concert, Amy explained that the timing had to be perfect for such a significant milestone.
“I needed the right people and the right moment before agreeing to do a concert. Through this solo concert, I want to deliver not just my music but also a piece of my soul.
“Who the concert producer is matters a great deal to me. They need to understand my background," he added.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale starting Feb 5, 2025, at www.wowtix.com.my.
