Faizal Tahir's New Album Upholds Traditional Elements

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Popular singer and composer Faizal Tahir’s latest album titled ‘Jati Diri’ embraces a unique concept inspired by traditional feasts (kenduri) and communal cooking (rewang).

Faizal, 46, said he chose this concept because it is close to his heart and represents the spirit of togetherness, unity and cooperation which he feels is gradually fading in modern society.

“This concept reflects the idea that good things should be shared. When we come together for something positive, we not only receive blessings from Allah but also strengthen the bonds of love among us,” he said.

He said the album, produced in collaboration with rising young producer Glowrush, is more than just a musical work, adding that it serves as a reminder for people not to forget their cultural roots and identity amid globalisation.

“My main inspiration comes from witnessing how much of our identity is slowly disappearing. I want to remind everyone of the importance of understanding and appreciating our heritage, culture and religion so that we do not lose our direction,” he explained. The album also features guest appearances by Altimet and Datuk M. Nasir.

Faizal also said the biggest challenge during the recording process was ensuring that every element of the album aligned with his vision and message.

“I strive to convey meaningful messages through creative and contemporary music without sacrificing traditional values. This album blends traditional musical elements with a modern touch to remain relevant to young listeners,” he said.

‘Jati Diri’ will be available on all digital streaming platforms starting Feb 7, 2025.
