Strong 6.0-magnitude Earthquake Hits Southwest Of Sumatra

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred near Southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia, at 12.32 pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement said that the epicentre of the earthquake was located 835 km southwest of Bengkulu, with a depth of 30 kilometres.

It poses no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
