MELAKA, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has channeled RM30,000 to assist three District Education Offices (PPDs) in Melaka to support those in need.
Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said that each PPD received RM10,000, which can be used to assist underprivileged families with school expenses this year.
"I leave it to the discretion of the PPDs to manage this allocation, the MADANI Government’s agenda is to help ease the burden of the people.
"We are certainly focusing on the country’s education, as we must work together to achieve the Ministry of Education’s ‘Murid Ceria, Guru Bahagia, Sekolah Bitara, Negara Sejahtera’ vision," he said.
Shamsul Iskandar, who is also Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Datuk Palembang Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) president, said this when met by reporters at the school today.
Earlier, Shamsul Iskandar, Ministry of Education Secretary-General Datuk Ruji Ubi, and Melaka Education Director Mahfudzah Mohamed Noor spent about two hours observing the first day of school for Group B students at the institution.
