KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has expressed his condolences to the family of Ayer Kuning assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin, who died yesterday.
Mohamed Khaled, who is also Defence Minister, described Ishsam’s passing as a significant loss not only to the people of Ayer Kuning and Perak but also to UMNO and Barisan Nasional.
“I pray that his family be granted strength and patience in facing this difficult time. Let us pray that he is placed among the righteous,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also conveyed his condolences to Ishsam’s family, friends and the people of Ayer Kuning.
“May his soul be blessed and placed among the faithful,” the Home Minister wrote on Facebook.
Ishsam, 59, died due to a heart attack after participating in a football tournament in Penang.
His remains were buried at the Rapat Setia Muslim Cemetery in Ipoh, Perak at 10.40 am.
