The elections, held as part of the association’s annual general meeting also saw former president Datuk Seri Megat D Shahriman Zaharudin’s nomination as presidential candidate voided due to an incomplete nomination form.
“The decision was made by the Chairman (Datuk Michael Wong), not us, we only followed what was informed to us,” Vikneswaran told reporters today, adding that the association had sent a notice about the cancellation on Jan 23.
Joherman Amir retained his deputy president post and Datuk Rosal Azimin Ahmad, Nasrun Mustapha and Jasbere Singh Poopindar retained their vice-president’s post, along with women’s vice-president Hebzibah Sudin, while a new vice-president, S-Balakrshnan was appointed.
Vikneswaran said new changes he would bring would focus on developing hockey at the grassroots level of each state.
"If we want to see the national team at the Olympics, we need to start at the grassroots, so we need to ensure we do the right thing,” Vikneswaran, who has been president since 2022, added.
