MELAKA, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government today launched a new tourism attraction, the Skyview Hot Air Balloon, which will begin operations at Dataran Sejarah in Ayer Keroh on April 1, and will remain open for one and a half years.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said that initially, two hot air balloons would be in operation, and the number would be increased to six units depending on the response with ticket prices as low as RM99 per person for domestic tourists and RM120 for international visitors.

However, Melaka residents would have the opportunity to ride the hot air balloon for as low as RM70 per person every Tuesday to Thursday.

Ab Rauf said the Skyview Hot Air Balloon, with a maximum of six passengers per gondola, will operate every Tuesday to Thursday (from 5 pm to 11 pm) and Fridays to Sundays (4 pm to midnight).

“Visitors can experience the hot air balloon ride for a panoramic view of Melaka from a height of 200 feet (60.9 metres).

“The introduction of this new attraction is in line with Melaka's commitment to strengthen the state's tourism sector in the eyes of the world, in conjunction with the celebration of World Tourism Day in September 2025 and Visit Melaka Year, running until 2026,” he said at Dataran Sejarah here today.

He was speaking at the pre-launch of the Skyview Hot Air Balloon which was also attended by state Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman and Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council president Datin Sapiah Haron.
