KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi commended his players for their resilience and determination in battling until the final whistle in their goalless draw against Sabah FC at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ) last night.
Although the result was not what the team had hoped for, Kinoshi said it was still sufficient for the Red Giants, who maintain an eight-point lead over Sabah in the race for the Super League runner-up spot.
“It was an intense match. We had so many chances but couldn’t get the ball into the net. Sabah also had several opportunities, so a 0-0 result is fair,” he said at the post-match press conference.
“Fortunately, we are still eight points ahead of Sabah,” he added.
Kinoshi also emphasised that Selangor would not be complacent despite securing 13 wins this season. The team aims to maintain a strong performance in their remaining three matches before the league concludes.
Last night’s match saw both teams struggle to break the deadlock in the full 90 minutes. Selangor remains in second place in the league standings with 43 points, while Sabah sits in third with 35 points.
Selangor will next take on Kelantan Darul Naim FC (KDN) at the MBPJ Stadium, while Sabah will face Terengganu FC (TFC) in Kuala Terengganu.
