Toshiba Unveils AEC-Q100 Compliant Automotive Standard Digital Isolators

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (Toshiba) has launched its first lineup of four-channel high-speed standard digital isolators for automotive applications, with shipments having commenced.

The new "DCM34xx01 Series” features 10 devices that support stable operation with high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 100 kilovolts per microsecond (kV/μs) and a data transmission speed of up to 50 megabits per second (Mbps). These isolators meet the AEC-Q100 standard, ensuring safety and reliability for automotive components.

For hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs), the safety and reliability of onboard chargers (OBCs) and battery management systems (BMSs) are critical. These systems require devices that ensure isolation and prevent noise interference.

According to Toshiba in a statement, the new automotive digital isolators deliver the necessary multi-channel high-speed communications and high CMTI capabilities for such applications.

Utilising Toshiba's proprietary magnetic coupling isolation technology, these devices provide impressive noise resistance between input and output, ensuring stable signal transmission and reliable equipment operation.

In addition, they also boast a low-pulse-width distortion of just 0.8 nanoseconds (ns) and a maximum data transmission rate of 50 Mbps. These isolators are ideal for applications such as I/O interfaces with serial peripheral interface (SPI) communications.

Toshiba has already mass-produced industrial standard digital isolators and has now extended its product lineup to automotive equipment.

Going forward, the company will increase the lineup of packages and number of channels in both areas. It will continue to provide high-quality isolation devices and photocouplers that support the reliability and real-time data transmission required by automotive equipment.
