LABUAN, March 5 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Labuan director, Junaidah Arbain, has assured that the supply of essential items such as sugar, polybag cooking oil, and flour remains sufficient in Labuan despite increased demand during Ramadan.
She said that there had been no complaints from wholesalers or sundry shop traders regarding shortages of these essential goods.
She acknowledged concerns raised by Ramadan bazaar traders over the lack of cooking oil supply in recent weeks, but clarified that wholesalers who had not received their stock of polybag cooking oil would receive their supply by the second week of March.
Junaidah also highlighted that Labuan’s three main sugar wholesalers were supplying a total of over 100,000kg to consumers on the island, ensuring there was no issue in meeting demand.
“Additionally, a new shipment of 95,040kg of sugar is expected to arrive before the Aidilfitri celebrations,” she said.
Junaidah said the KPDN Labuan office continues to monitor the supply chain to ensure that essential goods remain available for consumers throughout the fasting month and the upcoming festive season.
