HAWANA 2025 To Be Held In June - Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The 2025 National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) celebration will be held in Kuala Lumpur in June.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said that the exact date for the HAWANA 2025 celebration will be announced in due course.

“There are several aspects that the Communications Ministry is currently reviewing regarding the organisation of HAWANA. Insya-Allah, in conjunction with the celebration, we will make several major announcements that will benefit our colleagues from the media,” he told reporters today.

Fahmi said this after accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a breaking of fast event with media practitioners at Angkasapuri.

Also in attendance were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.

On Jan 23, Fahmi reportedly said that media organisations from across ASEAN would be invited to this year’s HAWANA, serving as a platform to enhance ties, foster cooperation, and address emerging challenges in the industry.

He said that media practitioners from across ASEAN would also be invited to participate in several programmes in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship this year.
