KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) donated RM1.85 million to 14 hospitals and medical centres to assist underprivileged patients.

The donation was presented by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, during the Rahmah MADANI Ramadan MAIWP: Donation Ceremony for Medical Centres and Hospitals 2025 at the Tunku Azizah Hospital here today.

Mohd Na'im said that the donation from MAIWP to hospital welfare funds assists underprivileged patients by alleviating their burden of medical bills, medication costs, and other expenses.

"Furthermore, this assistance reflects MAIWP's support for frontline workers, acknowledging their dedication and contributions, regardless of the time or circumstances," he said at the ceremony.

He added that among the donation beneficiaries were Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), which received RM300,000, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (RM200,000), Tunku Azizah Hospital (RM100,000), and Labuan Hospital (RM50,000).

Mohd Na'im also said that MAIWP had approved an allocation of RM290,000 for a coaster bus to HKL, assisting patients and their families in seeking treatment at the hospital.

He added that MAIWP is working with the Persatuan Kebajikan Bakti Kasih Malaysia (PKBKM) to provide iftar (breaking fast) meals for frontline workers, including those at the Tunku Azizah Hospital and other facilities.

"Alhamdulillah, this assistance will benefit 10,000 frontline workers with a total contribution of RM200,000," he said.
