PFMI Launches Malaysia’s First Metaverse-based Intelligence Operations Centre

SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- PKNS FM Integrated Sdn Bhd (PFMI), a subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS), today launched Malaysia’s first National Metaverse-Based Intelligence Operations Centre (IOC) at the Selangor Digital Economy Conference (SDEC) 2025.

PFMI chief executive officer Shamshul Bahari Ahmad said the establishment of the Metaverse IOC reflects Selangor’s leadership in driving digital transformation and sustainable growth.

He said by leveraging its core business in facilities management and project development, and combining it with advanced digital technologies, PFMI is creating a solution that is both practical and visionary.

“The PFMI Metaverse IOC demonstrates how Selangor can lead the way in smarter governance, ensuring that every innovation develop has real-world applications for the state and its people,” he said in a statement today.

Developed with the support of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) under the Brand Metaverse Onboarding Programme 2024, the IOC integrates artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, video intelligence and 3D visualisation into a centralised digital platform.

The immersive system allows facilities data, maintenance workflows and project lifecycles to be monitored and managed in real time for better decision-making, faster crisis response and greater efficiency.

The initiative also strengthens Malaysia’s digital economy agenda, reinforces environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, and positions Selangor as the first state to pioneer immersive intelligence solutions.

The PFMI Metaverse IOC will be showcased throughout SDEC 2025, offering participants a first-hand experience of how digital transformation can elevate traditional facilities management into a new era of real-time, data-driven decision making.

The four-day SDEC 2025, held from Oct 8 to 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, carries the theme ‘Pioneering the Future of Digital Innovation’ and gathers participants from government, industry and academia to discuss the advancement of next-generation digital technologies.
