Kedah Football Legend Hussin Jaafar Passes Away

ALOR SETAR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Legendary Kedah football striker of the 80s and 90s, Hussin Jaafar, 60, breathed his last at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru, yesterday.

Chairman of the Kedah committee on Consumerism and Cost of Living, Youth and Sports, Radhi Mat Din who is also vice-president of the Kedah Football Association (KFA), announced in his Facebook post that the deceased Hussin will be laid to rest at the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Mosque in Anak Bukit after Zohor prayers today.

“The body has arrived at his residence in Taman Aman, Anak Bukit and will be laid to rest after the Zohor prayers.

“For the new generation, the deceased was a legendary Kedah football striker in the 90s. With the Kedah team, Hussin helped the Hijau Kuning squad to reach the Malaysia Cup final four years in a row from 1987 and emerge champions in 1990 after beating Singapore 3-1," he said.

He said the late Hussin scored the first goal that led the Kedah team to Malaysia Cup victory in 1990.

Among his Kedah contemporaries were Lee Kin Hong, V. Sundramoorthy, Rincic Bratislav, Tan Cheng Hoe and Naina Mohammed.

"May Allah S.W.T. place him among the righteous and my condolences to the family of my friend, the deceased Hussin Jaafar," Radhi said.
