Perak BN Deploys Election Machinery To Sabah Ahead Of State Polls

GOPENG, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) has mobilised its election machinery to Sabah, focusing on five state seats within the Tawau and Kalabakan parliamentary constituencies in preparation for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN).

Perak BN chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the machinery had been tasked with assisting in campaign preparation and strategy in those areas to ensure smooth operations ahead of the election.

“I will also go on the ground to assess local needs. Our (Perak BN) role is to provide support, while the local teams understand the voters’ sentiments better,” he said.

He said this after officiating the state-level Basic Youth Entrepreneurship Programme, Cooperative Entrepreneurship Basics, and Junior Food Security Innovation Challenge at the Gopeng Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) here today.

On Oct 6, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly to pave the way for the 17th state election.

The assembly has 79 seats, 73 of which are contested, while the remaining six are appointed assemblymen.

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting this Thursday to discuss key dates and other matters related to the state polls.
