25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum Serves As A Platform For ASEAN's Energy Collaboration
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The 25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2025 (AEBF) commences tomorrow, serving as the platform to strengthen regional collaboration and mobilise partnerships that accelerate ASEAN’s energy transformation.
Hosted by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) and organised by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the three-day forum will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
With the theme “Powering ASEAN: Bridging Boundaries, Building Prosperity”, it is expected to attract 1,500 delegates comprising stakeholders and key players from the ASEAN energy industry, along with international dialogue partners.
AEBF 2025 will be held concurrently with the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and its related meetings, scheduled to take place from Oct 16 to 17, 2025.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will inaugurate the forum, which is anticipated to be one of the most significant energy dialogues in ASEAN’s history, setting the tone for future collaborations and transformative energy strategies.
According to PETRA, the 43rd AMEM will deliberate on several strategic issues, including the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, which will serve as the region’s strategic energy roadmap for the next five years.
Other key agendas include several regional memoranda of understanding, among them are the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) and the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement, aimed at strengthening energy interconnectivity, advancing the low-carbon transition, and enhancing regional energy security.
The ASEAN Energy Leaders’ Talk will also be held during the event, involving leaders of private institutions and energy-related businesses.
AEBF’s global significance will be underscored by the participation of internationally renowned leaders like the Asian Development Bank (ADB) director general Hideaki Iwasaki, who will outline the financing architecture for ASEAN’s transformation.
The forum will feature leading global energy figures such as Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who also serves as PETRA Minister, and the Philippine Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, who will be presenting Southeast Asia’s shared energy vision.
Complementing the policymakers are key industry figures responsible for implementing the region’s energy vision, including UEM Lestra Bhd chairman and UEM Group Bhd managing director Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin, Tenaga Nasional Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hasan, Gamuda Engineering managing director Justin Chin and Gamuda Australia chief strategy and growth officer Jarred Hardman.
Supported by the AMEM, the forum is the premier energy event in Southeast Asia, serving as a catalyst for policy innovation, business deals, and cross-border partnerships for 25 years.
