GENEVA, Oct 14 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The reconstruction of the Gaza Strip will require financing in the amount of US$70 billion, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti Tuesday, citing Special Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People Jaco Cilliers.
The UNDP cannot give an approximate timeline for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which will depend on the amount of funding received, but noted that it could take "decades," Cilliers told a briefing in Geneva.
According to the UNDP estimate, at least 50 million tonnes of rubble must be dismantled in Gaza, and bodies of dead Palestinians could be found under the debris, the official added.
