BUTTERWORTH, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- A retired soldier pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to 12 counts of dishonest misappropriation of funds totalling RM405,121 belonging to a company.
Mohd Noor Yacub, 67, was charged with dishonestly misappropriating the funds belonging to Amar Iman Development Sdn Bhd by depositing them into his bank account.
The offence was allegedly committed at Maybank Islamic Berhad, Plaza MWE Branch, Lebuh Farquhar, George Town, near here, between Jan 19 and Oct 21, 2015.
The charges, framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code, provide imprisonment for up to five years and whipping and are liable with a fine upon conviction.
Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah allowed Mohd Noor bail of RM50,000 for all 12 charges and also ordered him to report to the nearest Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office once a month and to surrender his passport to the court.
The court set Nov 19 for mention.
The prosecution was conducted by a deputy public prosecutor from MACC, Noor Azura Zulkiflee, while Mohd Noor was represented by lawyer Mohamad Amirrul Adli.
