UTeM, TUKE Collaborate To Develop High-tech AI And Cybernetics Laboratory

MELAKA, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) has entered into a strategic technical collaboration with the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE), Slovakia, to develop a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) and cybernetics laboratory.

UTeM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Massila Kamalrudin said the development of the AI and cybernetics laboratory involves the sharing of technology and expertise under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.

“The laboratory, which will be equipped with modern and advanced technology, is expected to be developed this year and will be jointly utilised by UTeM and TUKE for the benefit of both universities.

“Besides the development of the AI and cybernetics laboratory, UTeM and TUKE will also collaborate on two high-impact projects, namely the development of cutting-edge supercomputer technology and hydrogen technology, which are currently receiving strong global market attention and demand,” she said in a statement here today.

She added that the collaboration is part of UTeM’s initiatives to strengthen AI capabilities within the TVET sector, which has a direct impact on the nation’s aspirations to advance the field.

She said other areas of collaboration between UTeM and TUKE include higher education mobility, research and innovation programmes, as well as knowledge dissemination and curriculum enhancement.

Massila added that both universities will also work together to strengthen Erasmus+ international credit mobility, in addition to promoting experiential learning and cultural exchange between Malaysia and Slovakia.

“The relationship between UTeM and TUKE has been closely intertwined within the international higher education landscape, with numerous high-impact initiatives successfully undertaken together,” she said.
