KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Bhd (SLMT) and the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) have jointly launched the ‘Program Inspirasi Pendidikan Kewangan Belia Negara (Sesi 2025/2026)’ in a step forward to shape a financially responsible and resilient generation.

Themed “Today’s Youth, Tomorrow’s Leaders,” the initiative underscores the industry’s growing role in advancing Shariah-compliant financial literacy and promoting the importance of financial protection through takaful among university students.

SLMT chief executive officer Azam Yusof said the initiative to empower university students to make sound financial decisions early in life, guided by Islamic principles and the spirit of takaful. “We view financial literacy as an essential life skill. Through this initiative, it reflects our purpose to help people achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives,” he said in the same statement.

MTA said the initiative demonstrates the industry’s leadership in driving financial inclusion and awareness, in line with the national aspiration to strengthen financial well-being and resilience among Malaysians.

“It reinforces the takaful sector’s broader role in advancing financial literacy and community empowerment under the Value-Based Intermediation for Takaful (VBIT) framework championed by Bank Negara Malaysia,” it added.

The programme was officially launched today at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), marking the first in a series of educational workshops that will reach five universities nationwide, including UniKL MIAT, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), and Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS).
