GEORGE TOWN, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Penang police are targeting over 3,000 cyclists to participate in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Penang International 2nd Bridge Solidarity Fun Ride on Jan 3, next year.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the cycling event on the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS) is expected to attract local and foreign participants.
"The sixth edition of the most iconic night cycling event in Malaysia will be an unforgettable experience, illuminating the longest bridge in Malaysia and bringing together thousands of cyclists for a spirited, healthy and safe night of fun.
"This programme is also aimed at enhancing police-community collaboration through cycling and the crime prevention campaign. So far, about 1,000 riders have registered,” he said when met after the Penang Police contingent's monthly assembly and the launch of the 2nd Bridge Solidarity Fun Ride 2026.
He said the 52-kilometre (km) ride will start from the Queensbay Mall shopping centre in Bayan Baru at 9.30 pm, and participants will cycle to the bridge before returning to the finishing line at the mall.
The closing date is Nov 15 and those keen on taking part can register at https://www.gosportz.my/index.php/upcoming-events/pdrm-penang-international-2nd-bridge-solidarity-fun-ride-2026-event.
