IPOH, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Police have summoned eight individuals to assist in the investigation into the death of a climber, Mustaqqeem Mansor, who was found dead at the top of Gunung Liang Barat near Tanjong Malim, on Thursday.
Muallim deputy district police chief DSP Suhaimi Muhamad said those summoned comprised participants and fellow climbers of the victim who participated in the expedition.
"There are still three more climbers whose statements have not been recorded and will be summoned in the near future to complete the investigation. It is understood that the three other climbers returned home immediately after arriving at the foot of the mountain due to work and leave," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Suhaimi said the organisers of the climbing activity have also been identified and will be asked to come and give statements soon.
"So far, the investigation is being conducted as a sudden death report (SDR)," he said.
Earlier, the autopsy results at Slim River Hospital found that the cause of death of the deceased Mustaqqeem, 34, was due to hypothermia or extreme cold.
The victim was found dead at about 3.30 pm on Oct 16 at the top of Mount Liang before his body was taken out using an AW189 helicopter belonging to the Fire and Rescue Service's Special Air Force on Friday.
