KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- National squash ace S. Sivasangari continued her impressive rise on the international stage after climbing two rungs to a career-high sixth position in the latest Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Rankings released today.
The 26-year-old Kedahan achieved the feat following her runner-up finish at the Silicon Valley Open, a PSA Gold event held in Redwood City, California, last week.
Sivasangari defeated Kenzy Ayman of Egypt, American Amanda Sobhy and Egypt’s Salma Hany en route to the final before falling to top seed Olivia Weaver of the United States.
Her strong performance saw her overtake Japan’s Satomi Watanabe and Belgium’s Tinne Gilis to move into the world’s top six for the first time.
Meanwhile, fellow Malaysian Rachel Arnold also improved her standing after moving up one spot to 19th position in the women’s rankings.
In the men’s category, national number one Ng Eain Yow retained his 12th place.
