KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) announced that its outstanding short-term Sukuk portfolio has reached a record high of US$6.05 billion (US$1=RM4.2).

In a statement, IILM said the increase in underlying assets follows the recent upsizing of its Sukuk programme from US$6 billion to US$8.5 billion, enhancing its capacity to meet rising global demand for Shariah-compliant liquidity instruments.

Chief executive officer Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid said the development reinforces IILM’s pivotal role in strengthening financial stability and resilience within the Islamic finance ecosystem.

“This achievement underscores the sustained and growing demand from our global investor base and reaffirms the IILM’s commitment to providing a diversified range of high-quality, Shariah-compliant instruments that address the evolving liquidity needs of Islamic financial institutions worldwide,” he said.

The milestone follows the successful issuance and reissuance of an aggregate US$1.125 billion in short-term Sukuk across four tenures: one, three, six, and 12 months.

The four series were competitively priced: the one-month tenor raised US$375 million at 4.20 per cent, the three-month secured US$450 million at 4.10 per cent, the six-month amounted to US$245 million at 4.30 per cent, and the 12-month garnered US$55 million at 3.80 per cent.

The transaction marks IILM’s 18th Sukuk auction year-to-date, bringing total issuances to US$18.76 billion across 56 Sukuk series of varying maturities.

IILM is a regular issuer of short-term Sukuk across different tenors and amounts to meet the liquidity needs of institutions offering Islamic financial services.
