KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) — Celebrity sisters Heliza Helmi and Hazwani Helmi, who are also participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), will share their experiences from a humanitarian mission to Gaza through a charity event titled ‘Malam Untukmu Gaza’ (A Night for You, Gaza) at the Kedai Emas Sri Semantan (KESS) compound in Jengka, Pahang, on Oct 24.
The event, which will include special prayers (solat hajat), qasidah recitals and spiritual performances, aims to raise funds to ease the suffering of Gaza’s people, who continue to endure the brutality of the Zionist regime.
Heliza, whose full name is Nur Heliza Helmi, 39, said the experience of joining a humanitarian mission to Gaza left a profound impact on her, particularly on her spiritual strength and understanding of the Palestinian people’s resilience.
“Whenever I feel tired (of preaching), I recall what the Palestinians told us — that this world is a place of hardship, and the hereafter is a place of rest. They never stop fighting despite constant trials, so we, too, must continue our own struggle in whatever way we can,” she said during a recent press conference for the event.

She added that the Palestinians’ enduring spirit, even after losing their families and homes, continues to inspire her to raise awareness about humanitarian issues at every level.
“This struggle isn’t confined to the battlefield — it can also be through prayer, action, writing, music, or any effort that touches people’s hearts. Whatever our background, everyone can contribute, no matter how small,” she said, adding that social media has become a vital platform for building awareness among the younger generation.
Meanwhile, her sister Nur Hazwani Helmi, 28, said the experience opened her eyes to the harsh realities of life in Palestine and deepened her understanding of true perseverance.
“People often see us smiling, but the emotions only truly hit after returning home. During our first mission to Gaza in 2012, we met a father who had just lost his child — yet he smiled and said he was proud his son had died a martyr.

“That’s when I learned that true strength comes from faith and conviction. That’s what keeps us going even after returning home,” she said.
She also recalled being detained by Israeli forces for several days, an experience that reinforced her respect for the Palestinians’ extraordinary resilience in facing oppression and hardship.
Cinta Salam Malaysia (CSM) Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman expressed appreciation to KESS for organising ‘Malam Untukmu Gaza’, describing it as a noble effort to foster awareness and solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
He said the initiative demonstrated how the issue of Gaza has transcended social boundaries and continues to spark global conversations.
“We may not have broken the siege, but we have broken the silence — and that is already a powerful victory,” said Ahmad Musa, who plans to document his experiences in an upcoming e-book titled ‘Neraka Ketziot’, to be published on his official Facebook page soon.

The event, themed ‘Kilauan Semantan, Harapan Gaza’ (Semantan’s Radiance, Gaza’s Hope), is organised by KESS in collaboration with Soorga Emas Preloved, and will feature several artistes, including Dr Sam Rasputin, Raihan, and Mawi, who will perform during the charity night.
Meanwhile, KESS Executive Chairman Mohamad Hafizal Mahmood said the event reflects the company’s compassion for global humanitarian issues and its commitment to corporate social responsibility in supporting oppressed Muslim communities.
In conjunction with the event, KESS will also introduce a special edition ‘Untukmu Gaza’ gold coin featuring The Helmis as its main figures, with part of the proceeds channelled to Gaza through CSM.
“This isn’t just an entertainment event or product launch — it’s a platform to cultivate love and empathy for the Palestinian struggle,” he said.
