SHAH ALAM, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government today launched the Selangor MADANI Education Conference as a platform to formulate policies towards strengthening the state's education ecosystem.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that apart from implementing new policies, the initiative also focuses on the issue of safety in schools, currently a concern of the community.

He said that the conference to be held soon, following the organisation of the Education Reform Forum, would involve more stakeholders to enable the state government to look at education issues comprehensively.

“It will involve more parties for us to look at and these include the content of education, security issues and other matters.

“We will involve several specific groups until we succeed in creating several policies and programmes that can strengthen the education ecosystem in Selangor,” he said.

Amirudin said this when met by reporters after officiating the Forum Reformasi Pendidikan dan Cabaran Masa Kini: Punya Arah atau Hilang Arah?, organised by the Selangor government at the Raja Tun Uda Library auditorium here today.

The forum was conducted by the Selangor Student Development Secretariat head Mohd Hidayat Mohd Sauffi and was attended by four panel members, namely the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) vice chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Md Amin Md Taff, Senator Dr Jufitri Joha and Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron Aminar Rashid.

The organisation of the forum made Selangor the first state to hold a discussion involving various stakeholders to examine the challenges and direction of the current education system.
