PM Anwar Hopes MAIWP's Education Initiatives Benefit Children From Underprivileged Families

22/10/2025 09:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a briefing from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) on plans to expand secondary and higher education institutions under the council in Kuala Lumpur.

Anwar said the government’s commitment to meeting the needs of secondary education, which also offers a religious environment for students, would continue to be prioritised.

“In addition to physical development and facilities, the spirit of education and the essence of values and morality in the education of our children are vital,” he said in a post on Facebook.

Anwar expressed hope that MAIWP’s plan to provide quality education would benefit children from underprivileged families, while also serving as a continuation of charitable deeds made possible through zakat (tithe) contributions in the Federal Territories.
