HABIB Launches Wildlife Gold Wafer Collection In Support Of Zoo Negara Conservation Efforts

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s leading jewellery brand, HABIB, today launched its exclusive HABIB X Zoo Negara 999.9 Gold Wafer Collection, featuring four iconic animals as a symbol of support for wildlife habitat conservation in the country.

The special collection, depicting the Panda, Sun Bear, Tapir and Panther, was unveiled at the zoo’s Savannah Walk by HABIB Group executive chairman Datuk Sri Meer Habib and Zoo Negara deputy president Datuk Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana.

During the event, HABIB also announced a RM100,000 donation to the national zoo, a key wildlife conservation institution, to support ongoing care and preservation efforts, particularly for the White Rhinoceroses Ell, Ella and Eli.

Meer said the collaboration between HABIB and Zoo Negara began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 through the HABIB for Zoo Negara: Save Our Animals campaign, launched when the zoo faced financial challenges.

“We are honoured to continue this mission with Zoo Negara, not only to celebrate artistic craftsmanship but also to ensure the continuity of our natural heritage by helping to conserve endangered species,” he said.

He added that the initiative also educates the public on gold investment, which has risen by over 150 per cent since 2020, including more than 50 per cent growth this year alone.

Rosly, meanwhile, said HABIB’s continued partnership not only supports animal care and conservation education at Zoo Negara but also reflects a meaningful commitment to the survival of endangered species.

In a statement, HABIB said the limited-edition wafers are crafted from 999.9 pure gold with unique designs and will be available starting tomorrow at all HABIB showrooms nationwide.

Each gold wafer is priced at RM180 or RM720 for a complete set of four, aimed at raising awareness about the urgent need to protect Malaysia’s wildlife as part of HABIB’s ongoing Pesta Emas nationwide campaign.

“It is not only a gesture of appreciation but also a reminder of our shared responsibility in wildlife conservation,” the statement read.
