SEPANG, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Not even the downpour could stop BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider Fermin Aldeguer from topping the timesheets during Free Practice 1 (FP1) of the 2025 Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at the Sepang International Circuit here today.
The Spaniard clocked 2 minutes 00.199 seconds (s) to finish ahead of two-time world champion and Ducati Lenovo Team rider Francesco Bagnaia, who trailed by +0.256s, while Honda HRC Castrol’s Joan Mir (+0.349s) was third fastest.
In Moto2, British rider Jake Dixon of the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team made a flying start to his campaign here by posting the fastest time of 2:04.131s.
Albert Arenas of Gresini Moto2 was second in 2:04.292s, followed by David Alonso of CFMOTO RCB Aspar Team (2:04.429s) in third place.
However, it was a session to forget for Malaysian wildcard riders Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Muhammad Helmi Azman, both of Petronas MIE Racing RW, who finished at the bottom of the standings.
Azroy Hakeem was 29th in 2:08.023s and Helmi last in 2:08.933s.
Meanwhile, another Malaysian rider, Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, finished a commendable eighth despite making his Moto3 debut.
The Aeon Credit SIC Racing ace, also riding on a wildcard ticket, clocked 2:11.317s, as Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSI’s Angel Piqueras finished fastest in 2:10.979s, followed by Jacob Roulstone of Red Bull KTM Tech3 (2:11.031s) and Joel Kelso of LEVELUP-MTA (2:11.085s).
