Cloudy Weather Fails To Deter Acosta From Clocking Fastest Time In MotoGP Practice Session

24/10/2025 08:56 PM

SEPANG, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- The cloudy weather did not deter Spanish rider, Pedro Acosta, from emerging as the fastest rider during the practice session for the 2025 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at the Sepang International Circuit today.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider ended the session with a time of 1 minute 57.559 seconds (s), ahead of Johann Zarco from the Castrol Honda LCR team (1:57.578s) in second place, while Prima Pramac Yamaha rider, Jack Miller, was third fastest (1:57.840s).

"Not the best way to start a session for sure. Quite sorry to everyone because it's not the way to be fast, first of all. It was not in my plans to lose that much time at the beginning of the sessions like we do for this.

"But anyway, quite happy with the pace that I showed after my crash (in Free Practice 1 - FP1). Quite happy with both time attacks," he told reporters after the practice session ended today.

In the Moto2 practice session, Spanish rider Manuel Gonzalez from Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP clocked the fastest time of 2:04.166s.

Jake Dixon from Elf Marc VDS Racing Team was second fastest (2:04.218s), while Albert Arenas from Gresini Moto2 finished third fastest (2:04.282s).

Two Malaysian riders representing Petronas MIE Racing RW, Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Muhammad Helmi Azman, however, continued to struggle to master the track, finishing in 29th (2:07.953s) and last (2:08.279s), respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Moto3 class, Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Jose Antonio Rueda was the fastest with a time of 2:11.152s, followed by his teammate Alvaro Carpe in second (2:11.187s), while Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact rider, Brian Uriarte, was third (2:11.202s).

The positive momentum shown by young national rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli, after placing eighth (2:11.317s) in the morning's Free Practice 1 (FP1) session, did not last as he only managed 11th place with a time of 2:11.820s.

The 18-year-old rider, representing the AEON Credit SIC Racing MSi team, has nevertheless confirmed his place in tomorrow's Qualifying 2 (Q2) session, after being listed among the top 14 fastest riders based on the overall results of today's official practice session.
