KUANTAN, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Pahang government has set aside RM10 million to prepare for the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) season, including the early delivery of aid to 167 forward bases across the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said RM3.3 million from the total allocation was distributed today for the initial delivery of about 230 tonnes of dry food aid, which is expected to be completed within 17 days.
“The distribution of this aid is a normal practice for the state government as floods occur annually...the recent Central Disaster Management Committee meeting forecast heavy rain in early January next year,” he told reporters after flagging off the aid delivery mission at Wisma Sri Pahang here today.
Wan Rosdy said the distribution of aid would begin in Rompin before continuing to other districts across Pahang.
“I have personally checked the items, and they are all in good condition with a long shelf life,” he said.
The dry food items comprise rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, canned chicken curry, sardines, coffee, tea and biscuits.
