KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) won five awards at the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Media Awards 2025 iLINDUNGu ceremony held last night.
The second edition of the award was presented by the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, and aims to recognise the media's contribution in highlighting reports on the expansion of Perkeso's functions, particularly concerning the importance of social security and the rights of workers as contributors.
At the ceremony, Bernama Kelantan Bureau Chief Muhammad Afiq Mohd Asri was crowned the Champion of the Best News Portal Report for his article titled 'Stroke Is Not the End: Azli Rises Again with Perkeso RTW'.
Meanwhile, Bernama Kelantan Journalist Mohd Noor Iqram Rosli was crowned the Champion of the Best TV Report for his report titled 'Perkeso, A Shield of Protection for Gig Workers, Balancing the Risks of the New Economy', which earned them each a cash prize of RM3,000, a trophy, and a certificate.
In addition, Bernama also won second place in the Best Podcast Report category by Nor Hayati Yaakub, the Best News Portal Report category by Erda Khursyiah Basir, and the Best Digital Media Report category by Vishpani Kumar, with each of them taking home a cash prize of RM2,000, a trophy, and a certificate.
Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin described the achievement as extremely proud and proof of the high commitment of the Bernama team in delivering quality reports.
“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), tonight the Bernama team won four categories with two champions and three runners-up. It is a very proud achievement for Bernama.
“I hope these victories will inspire journalists, cameramen, photographers, and all staff at Bernama to continue striving for success in other media awards,” she said after the ceremony.
One of the winners, Muhammad Afiq, was grateful for the win and did not expect his last-minute entry to bring him good fortune when he was announced as the winner for the Best News Portal Report category.
"I took one day to produce this article because I was chasing the 'deadline' and the final submission date for nominations. So, I didn't expect that I would win, let alone become the champion," said the journalist, who won his first award in his 13 years in journalism.
This year's awards saw a total of 115 entries received from various media platforms, which were judged across eight competition categories, including Best Radio Report, Best Print Media Report, Best Photography Award, and Anugerah Jasa Bakti (Service Award) for Companies and Individuals.
