FBM KLCI Higher At Midday, Bucks Regional Trend

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark index ended the morning session higher amid mild accumulation in selected heavyweights, despite the weaker performance in regional markets. 

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 6.52 points, or 0.40 per cent, to 1,620.58, from Tuesday’s close of 1,614.06.

The benchmark index, which opened 0.62 of-a-point easier at 1,613.44, fluctuated between 1,613.05 and 1,621.76 during the session.

In the broader market, decliners trounced gainers 544 to 374, while 521 counters were unchanged, 1,347 untraded and 10 suspended.

Turnover amounted to 3.19 billion units valued at RM1.50 billion.

Among heavyweights, Maybank and Public Bank gained two sen each to RM9.94 and RM4.27, respectively, CIMB jumped 11 sen to RM7.56, Hong Leong Bank increased eight sen to RM21, TNB and Press Metal were flat at RM13.18 and RM6.44, respectively, while IHH Healthcare eased two sen to RM8.18, and CelcomDigi shed eight sen to RM3.39.

On the most active list,  ACE market debutant Aquawalk perked up one sen to 32 sen, Tanco went up two sen to RM1.01, Perak Transit bagged 1.5 sen to 29 sen, TWL was flat at 2.5 sen, Farm Fresh eased one sen to RM2.39, and V.S. Industry slipped three sen to 44 sen.

Top gainers included BLD Plantation garnered RM1.08 to RM11.84, United Plantations firmed 88 sen to RM27.92, Petronas Gas was 16 sen higher at RM18.30, and Can-One jumped 15 sen to RM1.85. 

Among the top losers, Dutch Lady slid 62 sen to RM28.68, Nestle gave up 40 sen to RM112.30, Petronas Dagangan shaved 36 sen to RM21.14, and Fraser & Neave lost 24 sen to RM32.76.

On the index board, the FBMT 100 Index increased 33.16 points to 11,774.48, the FBM Emas Index was 30.76 points higher at 12,000.72, the FBM Emas Shariah Index expanded by 11.99 points to 11,980.14, the FBM Mid 70 Index retreated 14.64 points to 16,771.03, and the FBM ACE Index fell 10 points to 4,902.1.  

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index climbed 51.361 points to 8,169.98, the Financial Services Index increased 85.81 points to 18,424.4, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.33 of-a-point to 165.18,  and the Energy Index slipped 2.39 points to 759.12.
