Launching Of Sabah PH Manifesto Postponed To Sunday - Chan

19/11/2025 04:34 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The launch of Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto for the 17th state election scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to Sunday due to translation issues, said Sabah DAP deputy chairman Datuk Chan Foong Hin.

Chan, who is also a candidate for the Tanjung Aru state seat, said he was informed of the matter by Sabah PKR leadership council chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

"I just got in touch with Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, he told me it has been postponed to this Sunday. Thursday is not available. This is what I was told just now, because there is a translation issue (of the manifesto leaflet)," he said.

Chan, who is also the Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities, was speaking to reporters after a Used Cooking Oil Collection Awareness Briefing programme in Kampung Torong Logong, Pulau Gaya here, today.

Yesterday, Mustapha told the media that PH would launch its manifesto on Thursday with the main focus on establishing a special fund for the people of Sabah, in addition to emphasising the resolution of basic issues in the state.

Chan said as one of the individuals involved in the drafting of the document, the PH manifesto was realistic, not promising 'moon and stars' because it only revolved around meeting the basic needs of the people.

Meanwhile, Chan dismissed criticism that the estimated cost of the new school complex construction project specifically for Pulau Gaya was inappropriate, stressing that access to education should not be evaluated by price and that it was not election-motivated.

"With or without me, the project is still going on. It's just that I knew the implementation plan in advance because I am in the government administration.

"As the government, we cannot deny the right of students access to the education. Education is for all, it's priceless. We cannot put a price tag, so I think this (claiming it is an expensive project) is a wrong perception and plays on sentiment,” he said.

The Election Commission (EC) has set the polling day for the 17th Sabah state election on Nov 29 while early voting is on Nov 25.
