ISKANDAR PUTERI, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) and Indonesia’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), through the Indonesia-Malaysia Coordinated Customs Patrol Operation (PATKOR KASTIMA), successfully thwarted five cross-border crime cases involving seizures worth RM558,344.
JKDM director-general Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin said the Series 29A/2025 operation, a result of collaboration between the two countries, was carried out from Oct 22 to Nov 1.
She said the operation involved the seizure of cigarettes and cannabis, confiscated through intelligence and patrols, with the participation of 83 JKDM personnel and 120 from DJBC.
“With the cases recorded, it proves that our role is very important in safeguarding economic security.
“Similarly, it ensures peace in the waters between the two countries, while curbing smuggling and cross-border crime,” she said when speaking at the closing ceremony of PATKOR KASTIMA Series 29B/2025, here today.
According to Anis Rizana, the annual operation was an initiative under the Malaysia-Indonesia Maritime Operations Planning Team (TPOM MALINDO), which comprises various maritime enforcement agencies.
Therefore, she said that collaboration and enforcement operations in the country’s waters should continue to ensure that all illegal activities were curbed more comprehensively and effectively.
