CHUKAI, Nov 19 (Bernama) – The Central Terengganu Development Authority (Ketengah) will revive the Housing Development Programme (PPK) project in Kampung Air Putih, which has been stalled for nearly two years, with an additional allocation of RM3 million.
Its chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat, said the project, approved by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, covers the construction of 185 houses, a surau, a kindergarten, and a playground on a 16.8-hectare site, and is expected to resume soon.
“The contractor has been given six months to complete the remaining six per cent of the project,” he said after inspecting the site today, accompanied by Ketengah general manager Datuk Tengku Ahmad Nadzri Tengku Musa.
Rozi added that the project was initially allocated RM20.399 million, with construction starting in 2019.
The development was halted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed in 2022, but work stopped again in June 2024 due to technical issues.
He said the project aims to provide free housing for residents affected by floods and low-income families.
“I hope the wait for eligible residents to move into their homes will soon end with the resumption of this project,” he added.
