KUANTAN, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- A trailer driver carrying a load of 35,000 kilograms (kg) of a mineral suspected to be feldspar was detained in front of a school in Lanchang, Temerloh.
The General Operations Force (PGA) Southeast Brigade, in a statement, informed that the trailer, driven by a 52-year-old local man, was detained through Op Bersepadu Khazanah carried out by Battalion 7 together with the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP) around 5 pm last Wednesday.
"The inspection found 35,000 kg of mineral on the back of the trailer, while the documents shown by the driver regarding the transported mineral were doubtful and suspected to have been obtained illegally," the statement said.
The PGA informed that initial investigations also found that the man was a driver at a transport company that offered cargo services according to the client's request.
The man and the seized items, including the vehicle, are estimated to be worth RM 428,000 and were taken to the Temerloh District Police Headquarters for further action by UPNP.
The case is being investigated under Section 153 of the Pahang Mineral Enactment 2001.
