KINABATANGAN, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- The MARA TVET Tour programme in Kinabatangan has been described by rural youth as paving the way for them to plan and explore future careers in the skills sector.
Through this programme, the rural youth will also be exposed to information about the high marketability of graduates of skills institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), leading to these institutions becoming the top choice for students continuing their studies in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Beluran student Mohammad Adam Ilham Taip, 18, said he plans to further his studies at a MARA institution, which provides a lot of financial assistance to B40 students.
“I will choose the TVET field after completing my Form Six because of brighter career opportunities.
“Through the MARA TVET Tour, we get to know more about the courses offered and MARA also provides financial assistance. For students, this is very helpful,” he told Bernama during the MARA TVET Tour programme today.
The TVET Tour programme was launched by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the National TVET Council chairman.
Mohamad Farhan Nizam Kasran, 18, concurred with Mohamad Adam Ilham, adding that he is keen to further his studies in technology-related fields.
“I intend to pursue further studies in the field of electronics and communications technology. The skills sector is more open and offers wider employment opportunities because it focuses on hands-on training,” he said.
Meanwhile, Izah Wati Lanting, 18, said the tour programme not only provided information but also helped her make important decisions about her future.
“Previously, I was not quite clear about the TVET pathway, but seeing the courses being offered, I am more confident about choosing a skills-based field,” she said.
