PUTRAJAYA, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Former senior political secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, and businessman Albert Tei Jiann Cheing, were taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to the Putrajaya Court Complex this morning for remand proceedings.
Both men, handcuffed and dressed in MACC lockup attire, were brought before the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court as MACC seeks a remand order for them to assist investigations into allegations of corruption.
Yesterday, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Shamsul Iskandar and Tei, as well as a woman, Sofia Rini Buyong, were all detained to assist in the probe into allegations that Tei paid bribes to Shamsul Iskandar to recover funds said to have been distributed to Sabah assemblymen.
Shamsul Iskandar was detained after presenting himself at the MACC headquarters to have his statement recorded yesterday, while Tei was nabbed after MACC raided his home in Puchong.
